S.T. McCullagh, rider of Clew Bay trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount leaned right in the straight
J. Coen, rider of Nakao (GB) trained by Paul W. Flynn, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away out of starting stalls
J.J.G. Ryan, rider of Rock Ya Boy Ya trained by Francis Casey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount clipped a heel early in the race and nearly fell
The Stewards requested a report from J. S. Bolger, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Bosca Cheoil, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Ger Flynn, Authorised representative for J.S. Bolger stated that he could only attribute the better going conditions to have brought about the improved run. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report
The Stewards enquired into an incident soon after the start involving Clew Bay, ridden by S.T. McCullagh, placed second, Ivy Rock, ridden by A.J. Slattery, placed fourth, Rare Flower, ridden by W. Joyce, placed third, Bosca Cheoil, ridden by L.T. McAteer, placed first and Rock Ya Boy Ya, ridden by J.J.G. Ryan, unplaced, where it appeared that Rock Ya Boy Ya stumbled and unbalanced his rider. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned
In his evidence J.J.G. Ryan stated that his mount was taking a keen hold when he got tightened and stumbled when clipping a heel. A.J. Slattery stated that his mount was running free and ducked off heels when taken back. S.T
McCullagh stated his mount kept straight but he got pressure from his outside. L.T. McAteer stated that having been slowly away he kicked his mount and moved across but Ivy Rock was running keen and raced up behind him
W. Joyce stated that he felt that he had kept straight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that there were a number of contributing factors in this incident and deemed any interference to be accidental in nature and took no further action. T.G. McCourt, Master of J.J.G
Ryan, attended this enquiry with his apprentice
D.E. Sheehy, rider of Speedy Pix trained by T.G.McCourt, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away from the stalls
