Permission was given for Talking About You (GB) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
An enquiry was held to consider the conduct of Alexandra Dunn, who appeared to have directed Charlie Deutsch, the rider of Sarceaux (FR), to cross the Parade Ring despite having been advised by a BHA Official to obey the Parade Ring protocol.
The trainer, the rider and a BHA Steward were interviewed.
Having heard their evidence, the trainer’s explanation that due to a miscommunication with the BHA Official she had unintentionally instructed Deutsch to cross the Parade Ring, having gone past the entrance to the chute shortly after the bell had been rung notifying the riders to go to post, was noted.
However, Dunn was warned as to her conduct under Rule (E)31 that all persons in the Pre-Parade ring, the Parade Ring or that are involved in a parade must obey the instructions of BHA Officials and Racecourse officials.
The performance of Progressive (GB), which started second favourite and finished last of the nine runners, was considered.
The representative of Nicky Henderson could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Progressive (GB) shortly after the race failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Donald McCain reported that Fiveandtwenty (GB), unplaced, ran flat.
