In fairness Gavin gave him a peach, he came down through them and the more trouble he got into the more he was loving it. He was fifth in an Irish Guineas so he should be winning an auction maiden and in fairness he won it very impressively. He's in an awkward position as it's hard to find a handicap for him, he'd have big weights in them, so I suppose we might go back in Stakes company with him. Donnacha Aidan O'Brien, trainer
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Offiah, trained by G.M.Lyons, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
The Stewards enquired into possible interference about one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Diamil, ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed second, Emporio, ridden by G.M. Ryan, placed first and Lolly Yeats, ridden by S.P
Davis, placed fourth, where it appeared Lolly Yeats may have received interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence S.P. Davis stated that Emporio came from his outside and he received a bump
G.M. Ryan stated that his mount was ungenuine and he passed Lolly Yeats very quickly and moved inwards in the belief that he was clear. R.P. Whelan stated that his mount was lugging through greenness but at the same time he felt that he had kept a straight course. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings. They advised G.M. Ryan to ride with more care
The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final furlong involving Diamil, ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed second, Emporio, ridden by G.M. Ryan, placed first and Notre Belle Bete (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed third, where it appeared that Emporio was tight for room when trying to deliver a challenge between horses
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence G.M. Ryan stated that he was trying to keep his mount covered up for as long as possible and arrived between horses where it was tight for room but a gap opened up and he raced to the front at that time. C.D. Hayes stated that his mount had rolled to the right before rolling back left and while he was aware that Diamil was arriving on his outer, he did not consider that there was a gap for Emporio until he received a bump from him which unbalanced his own mount. R.P. Whelan stated that he felt that he was keeping a straight course and did not expect Emprio to appear in the gap. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings. They Stewards advised C.D. Hayes to ride with more care
