A touch landed here with READY TO TAP (33 - 16/1) making a winning seasonal reappearance. The colt had made a reasonably encouraging debut at Naas last June but according to winning trainer Martina Doran "just needed time to mature and I purposely didn't run him again until now. He is a very straightforward colt and takes everything very easily." The second and third placed horses were closing on the winner at the line but READY TO TAP appears a smart sort who should win again.
ADMIRAL BARRY has made the running in the past and did so again here. However, he seemed to race with the 'choke out' at halfway and it was no surprise to see him eventually headed, but he did stick to his task well inside the final furlong. He is rated 82, and although he clearly possesses enough ability to win races, it is possible he may prove frustrating to follow.
APT SON ran a sound race and possibly ran to his handicap mark of 77. The colt appears to stay well and is worth following.
WHISKEY AND RYE ran a sound race without threatening while ROCK CRITIC was again reluctant to load and disappointed slightly in fifth..
SUPERIUS ran as though he would benefit from the run and stayed on while well-built stablemates CLAUDIO and THE EMPEROR NERO should do better in time.
