An enquiry was held to consider why Richard Hannon was running Billesdon Brook (GB) here at Sandown on going described as Good, having declared the filly a non-runner at Ascot on 26 July 2020 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that he was not entirely happy with how Billesdon Brook (GB) was moving prior to the run at Ascot and therefore did not wish take any chances on the ground, but that she has improved since with the way that she was moving and was happy for the filly to take its chances on the ground today.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately 1 furlong out involving Billesdon Brook (GB), placed second, ridden by Sean Levey, and LAVENDER’S BLUE (IRE), placed third, ridden by Jim Crowley.
The Stewards in considering how Billesdon Brook (GB) and LAVENDER’S BLUE (IRE) were travelling in relation to each other prior to the incident, where the interference occurred in relation to the winning post and the official distance of ¾ length between them at the line, were not satisfied, that on the balance of probabilities, that the interference had improved Billesdon Brook (GB)’s placing and the placings remained unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental as Billesdon Brook (GB) shifted marginally right as Quadrilateral (GB), placed fourth, drifted slightly left carrying LAVENDER’S BLUE (IRE) towards Billesdon Brook (GB), causing Crowley to steady his mount.
