The winner, Smile A Mile (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Sandown on 31 July 2019 where the gelding finished sixth of eight, beaten by 14 ½ lengths.
It was noted that Mark Johnston’s representative could offer no explanation for Smile A Mile (IRE)’s improved form.
Following the race, Thomas Greatrex reported that Global Hunter (IRE), placed sixth of six, ran too freely and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination, during routine testing of Global Hunter (IRE), revealed the colt had lost its right fore and left hind shoes.
