The Stewards requested a report from Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Hathiq, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Denis Gerard Hogan stated that his charge underwent a soft palate operation after its previous run and got a break from racing for a few weeks as a result of this. He felt a combination of both had helped tp bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Sun Sign, trained by Mrs Denise Foster, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
The Stewards informed Mrs. Denise Foster, trainer of Sun Sign, that a repeat display from her charge who was withdrawn by order of the stewards having refused to go to the start may render the animal liable to suspension
The Stewards interviewed Mrs. Denise Foster, trainer of Sun Sign after it appeared a member of her staff used an item to prompt her charge to the start. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned, who accepted this was the case and apologised for the incident and gave the Stewards assurances that such a situation would not reoccur
Having viewed a recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Ms. Foster was in breach of Regulation 13 and having considered her record in this regard, they severely cautioned her on this occasion.
