Upon rounding the first bend, Emitom (IRE), which was later pulled up, became unbalanced and shifted right-handed, hampering Winter Fog (IRE), unplaced, which in turn hampered Pounding Poet (IRE), unplaced, Ilikedwayurthinkin (IRE), placed second, and Coeur Serein (IRE), placed fifth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Mr Ben Bromley, the rider of Saint D'oroux (FR), placed seventh, was suspended for 9 days, on dates to be notified to him by the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority, for using his whip above the permitted level and without time to respond from after the third last hurdle.
As a 7lb claiming amateur, Mr Bromley was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
The performance of Remastered (GB) which finished unplaced, was considered.
David Pipe could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
The performance of Winter Fog (IRE) which started favourite before finishing unplaced, was considered.
Emmet Mullins could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance; P Townend reported that Winter Fog (IRE), unplaced, was never travelling and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post- race examination of the gelding during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Rachael Blackmore reported that Emitom (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Bushypark (IRE), which was pulled up, had lost its left- hind shoe.
