It got very close, but the handicapper has it near enough right. There was very little distance between any of them. She's entered for next week in another rated race (Cork on Wednesday), it is the same conditions as this one so we will wait and see how we go on. We'll see how she is and we might have another go. I'm delighted for Wesley, always trying to get him back on the right road. He is such a nice young fella. When he was with us, I couldn't say enough about him. He deserves everything he gets. The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Storm Miami, ridden by J. Kearney, placed third, Megarry, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed second, and Lia Fail, ridden by W. Joyce, placed first, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J. Kearney stated that they were riding tight but that he did not receive interference. G.F. Carroll stated that he kept a straight line on the outside and did not receive interference. W. Joyce stated that his filly was leaning all the way but he was aware of the other horses and did not use his stick as he kept both hands on the reins in an effort to keep his mount straight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approximately 2 furlongs from home involving Gloucester, ridden by P.A. Harnett, placed fourth, and Lia Fail, ridden by W. Joyce, placed first, where it appeared Gloucester had to take a check after getting tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. P.A. Harnett stated that he had to take a check when going for a gap. W. Joyce stated that his filly was leaning right all the way but felt at that point he was keeping straight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
