The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.A. Heffernan, rider of Red Riding Hood, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised for his actions but added that some of the strikes were for corrective purposes

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J. A

Heffernan was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g(excessive frequency) and having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended J. A. Heffernan for three racedays

The Raceday Stewards informed Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer, that Indian Wish (FR), would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again

D. McMonagle, rider of American Sonja (GB), trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount leaned slightly right when he hit the front

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Red Riding Hood, trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was intimidated and moved towards the rail and he used his whip for corrective measures

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Mashia, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed third, and Snowcapped, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed fourth, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C. D. Hayes stated that he had committed for a gap when the horses in front moved out. C. T. Keane stated that he received a minor bump

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action. Mr. John Martin-Smith and Mr. Julian Gaisford-St. Lawrence recused themselves from this enquiry

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving American Sonja (GB), ridden by D. McMonagle, placed second, and Red Riding Hood, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed first where it appeared there was contact between the two. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. McMonagle stated that his mount rolled around but he straightened up when he heard a shout. J. A. Heffernan stated that things got a little tight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
