The Stewards requested a report from riders G.P Halpin and C.T. Keane after G.P. Halpin's mount Johann Bach appeared to slip up approximately 200 yards from the finish, thereby bringing down Elusive Heights, ridden by C.T. Keane. G.P. Halpin reported that his mount stumbled independently and slipped up and C.T. Keane reported that his mount was brought down as a result of Johann Bach slipping up in front of him. Having viewed the recording of the race, the Stewards were satisfied that Johann Bach overreached on his near fore, causing him to stumble and slip up, consequently bringing down Elusive Heights, and having considered the reports, the Stewards took no further action.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (100 = 10st) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 100 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 100 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 100 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
