Permission was given for Today Power (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
Shortly after leaving the stalls Sea Bright (GB), drawn 3, was left short of room in between runners when Collette (IRE), drawn 7, jumped left-handed making contact with LEO’S LUCKYMAN, drawn 6, which in turn made contact with Hoorayforthegrey (GB), drawn 5, and Mr Shady (IRE), drawn 4.
At the same time Saracen Star (GB), drawn 1, jumped right-handed making contact with Today Power (IRE), drawn 2.
After viewing a recording of both incidents, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of any horse.
Golden Fountain (IRE), placed sixth, ran wide rounding the bend taking the winner, MY SHADY (IRE), and in turn, Today Power (IRE), placed second, marginally off their intended lines.

Jimmy Quinn, the rider of Sea Bright (GB), placed eighth, had appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Quinn’s explanation that he had to ease momentarily to avoid running onto the heels of Collette (IRE) in front was noted.
Following the race, Joe Fanning reported reported that Golden Fountain (IRE), placed sixth, hung left- handed in the straight.
P J McDonald, the rider of Today Power (IRE), and Jimmy Quinn, the rider of Sea Bright (GB), placed eighth, reported that their mounts suffered interference leaving the stalls.
