The Stewards enquired into an incident approximately two and a half furlongs from the finish involving Beau Satchel (GB), ridden by J.P. O'Brien, Longton (GB), ridden by D.P. McDonogh and Basilica (GB), ridden by L.F. Roche, where it appeared Beau Satchel (GB) was forced to check for a number of strides. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards deemed the incident to be accidental in nature and took no further action. The Stewards interviewed R.P. Whelan, rider of Focussed, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that R.P. Whelan was in breach of Regulation 10 3(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his record in this regard into account suspended him for two race days.
