I don't have him that long, he's only with me a couple of months. He came from France in rag old order but we got a bit of grub into him and got him looking well,. The Stewards considered an objection lodged by D.E. Hogan, rider of Roibeard, placed second, against the winner Lucky Mistake, ridden by D.E. Sheehy, placed first, on the grounds that the winner dragged his own mount across the track between one and a half furlongs and one furlong from the finish costing him the winning of the race with the distance apart at the finish being half a length. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards overruled the objection and the result stands. Adrian Paul Keatley, trainer of Lucky Mistake, attended this enquiry. T.P. Madden, rider of Make It Hurrah trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race. G.P. Halpin, rider of Uno Momento trained by Thomas Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not handle the track. D.E. Sheehy, rider of Lucky Mistake trained by Adrian Paul Keatley, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left in the straight. The Stewards enquired from Jane M. Foley, trainer, as to why her charge Mack Miller (GB) arrived at the start without being fitted with sheepskin cheek pieces which were declared to be worn, therefore necessitating the animals withdrawal in accordance with the provisions of Rule 194 (ii). The trainer stated that she forgot to inform a staff member that sheepskin cheek pieces had to be fitted and accepted full responsibility for this error. Having considered her evidence, the Stewards cautioned Jane M. Foley concerning her responsibility to conform with Rule 194 (ii) in relation to the wearing of declared head gear.
