Permission was given for Percy Willis (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Percy Willis (GB), trained by Jedd O’Keeffe, ran without its right-hind shoe as the trainer had not indicated at declaration stage that the gelding should be withdrawn in the event of losing a shoe on the way to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference entering the first bend involving Top Drop (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Trevor Whelan, and By Jove (GB), placed seventh, ridden by Frederick Larson.
Whelan was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his horse to drift left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of a free-running By Jove (GB), causing Larson to have to steady the gelding.
Being a 7Ib Claiming Apprentice, Larson was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
Cieren Fallon, the rider of Percy Willis (GB), placed third, was also interviewed but was found not to be involved in the interference.
Saffie Osborne, the rider of Hashtagmetoo (USA), placed fourth, had appeared to stop riding shortly before the finish line, before being beaten a head for third place.
Being satisfied that she was always being held on the run to the line and had obtained the best possible placing, no further action was taken.
