The Clerk of the Scales objected to Nushafreen (GB), placed third, ridden by Christian Howarth and trained by Marco Botti, on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 9st 0lb having weighed out at 9st 2lbs.
Nushafreen (GB) was disqualified and the placings were revised as follows: Semser (GB), placed third; My Target (IRE), placed fourth; Ghostly (GB), placed fifth; Win Win Power (IRE), placed sixth; Elegant Love (GB), placed seventh; West Side Glory (IRE), placed eighth.
The rider, the trainers' representative and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed.
As the Stewards were unable to establish an explanation for the weight difference, Howarth was suspended for 2 days and Botti was fined £500.
The performance of Elegant Love (GB), which finished seventh, was considered.
Tony Carroll could offer no explanation for the mare’s performance; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Elegant Love (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
