The winner Rum Runner (GB) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newmarket on 12 July 2019 where the colt finished twelfth of the thirteen runners, beaten by 18 ¼ lengths.
The representative for Richard Hannon could offer no explanation for the colt’s performance other than the colt is inconsistent.
Rum Runner (GB) was routine tested.
The performance of Zeyzoun (FR), which started joint second favourite and finished last of the ten runners, was considered.
Chris Wall’s explanation that the gelding ran too freely having had insufficient cover and was unsuited by the Good to Firm, Good in Places ground on this occasion and would prefer a slower surface, was noted.
