R.P. Whelan, rider of Gougane Barra (USA), trained by M.Halford, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount reared leaving the stalls and was lame on pulling up
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Golden Valour (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed second, Queen Amidala, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed third and Latchet, ridden by G.M
Ryan, placed first, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action. Mr. J.M. McGrath, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Gougane Barra (USA) trained by M.Halford was found to be lame post race.
