The Raceday Stewards interviewed R.P. Whelan, rider of Hezahunk, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he was in breach of the whip Regulation but stated that his first strike was for corrective purposes. Having viewed a recording of the race and having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found R.P. Whelan, in breach of R.10.3 (g) (frequency) and having considered his record (first offence under Regulation 10), they suspended him for one raceday.
