A.J. Slattery, rider of Trump Card trained by Conor O'Dwyer, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was tight for room rounding the bend at the end of the back straight about five furlongs from the finish
The Stewards enquired into an incident about four and a half furlongs from the finish on the bend at the end of the back straight involving Awkwafina, ridden by D. King, Tenth Amendment, ridden by C.D. Maxwell, Happy Lad, ridden by S.P. Bird and Trump Card, ridden by A.J. Slattery, where it appeared that Trump Card checked when racing close to the running rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence A.J. Slattery stated that his mount got tight for room and backed out when Awkwafina raced along side his mount. D. King stated that he was outside Trump Card when it got tight for room and his mount moved outwards when bumped. C.D
Maxwell stated that there was some room between his mount and Trump Card which was racing close to the rail but felt that there was insufficient room at that point for any horse to come between horses. S.P. Bird stated that he did not contribute to any interference which took place on his inner. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were unable to apportion any blame to any rider and they took no further action other than to advice D. King to ride with more awareness as to what's happening around him during a race

An extended handicap for four years old and upwards rated 45-65 Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 10st 2lbs and the minimum weight shall not be less than 8st 6lbs Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra for each race won.
