The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.W. Kennedy, rider of Pats Choice, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he had used his whip nine times but stated that one was for corrective purposes. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg. 10.3.(g) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his record into account they suspended him for one race day
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Verdant Place, trained by Patrick T. Foley, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
