A good field of horses nearly suits him better as they go a truer gallop. We were a bit worried about the mile-four trip but he seems to handle it alright. The Stewards enquired into the reason for the late withdrawal of Banjo, trained by Denis W. Cullen at 5.17 p.m with "Going" given as the reason. Denis W. Cullen stated that he had declared on "Good to Firm" ground with the comment that watering continued. He accepted that the going description had not changed but having walked the track he considered that his charge being a ten year old national hunt horse would be racing on firmer ground and while he was a clean sound horse, the decision was made in the best interests of the animals welfare. He complimented the presentation of todays track. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that there was no material change in the ground description since the time of declaration. In view of the fact that Banjo was present at the course, the Stewards fined Denis W. Cullen €200 for the late withdrawal of his charge.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards rated 45-65 Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 10st 2lbs and the minimum weight shall not be less than 8st 6lbs Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra for each race won.
