FormscanBy Michael Graham - DARK NOTE has contested very competitive handicaps at the festivals in Punchestown and Galway and, although unplaced in both, didn't run badly at all and has an each-way chance. Rauzan is going from strength to strength in his bid for a four-timer. This is his toughest task, however, he has increased his winning margin with each run. Miss Fourie ran a cracker in second at 20/1 in a mares' handicap hurdle at Galway, so is a player here. Red Glory, who took the honours at Killarney, is another on the upgrade, while Granpa Ger receives lumps of weight from his rivals and could show up well.

he was always a very good work horse but was disappointing on the track. He has got his confidence now and chasing seems to have improved him. Brian (Hayes) gets on brilliant with him and for a cheap horse, he has now won five in a year. It's great as he handles soft ground as well. We might have the option of going back over hurdles from bottom weight and I was kicking myself we hadn't put him in the big handicap hurdle today. I suppose the conditions of the race and the weights (suited). Phillip said he nearly found traffic even with four runners (hampered by faller Notkeepinyagoing). He's a horse that travels well and stays well which is a good attribute to have. He said he picked up well at the back of the last. He did it well. I've no real plan for him but we might look at Galway. He's a dual-purpose horse and he is only rated 61 on the Flat, so I might look at the Flat as well. He's definitely improving for a four-year-old. The last day was a non event, he stood in the stalls and the race was over. Lucky enough we were in last today which was a big help. His three runs before that were very good and I thought one day he might just come good. He's after running around 20 times on the Flat and has never won. Dylan said he was going to keep it simple today. He said if he came out, he would ride him real positive. If he fell in a hole up the straight, so be it. He stayed going. To win five lengths, I couldn't believe it. That was a 95 handicap - there was only one horse rated over 95 and the rest of them were in the 80s (and 70s), but he won well. He's basically running away here until he gets a bit of nice ground to go back over jumps. He wants good ground. He has a wind issue, so he gets away with it on nice ground. As soon as the weather dries up, he will go back over hurdles. She had a lovely run in Wexford and she came on a bit from it. It is great she got that out of the way and more than likely she will head on to Galway now for something. She loves the quick ground and, in fairness, it was probably a help that Willie's (Mullins, Tina Meehan) came out of it. I was smiling then!. It is great to get a winner for the owners coming into the yard. We will have a few going to Galway - I suppose anything that runs well between now and the next few days will be lined up for Galway.
