we can't take a whole lot of praise for this one as it goes to Richard O'Brien - we don't have him very long. Richard had recommended him to us and we bought him after doing a gallop. We made a mistake last year, he told us he'd win this bumper with Impulsive Dancer but we didn't act quickly enough. Impulsive Dancer won and Willie (Mullins) bought him, but thankfully we haven't made the same mistake twice!. Richard did a wonderful job, he's a lovely straight fella and a great fella to deal with. He trained him basically as he's not long in our place. He's a lovely relaxed horse, showed a great attitude today and is a real pro. Barry O'Neill would ride all our bumper horses but part of the deal (with O'Brien) was that Eoin would keep the ride. He gave him a super ride and dictated everything in front. He deserved that as he got a wicked bad fall here in the race after the Grand National and I thought he was dead when he hit the ground. The lads (Miracle Cure Syndicate) deserved a big day like that and they have been with me from the very start. To come back and do that is unbelievable. He ran well over hurdles in Clonmel but the ground dried up too much in Carlisle the last day. This was always the plan. They went a wicked gallop which I knew would suit him as he stays and Danny gave him a great ride. He kept him wide and he jumped great. He loves soft ground and is much better going this way. If he got in he might go for the Irish National one day. The National Trial in Punchestown could be a race for him. They went an unmerciful gallop! She was very good at home jumping-wise and she jumped great. She had lots of schooling done with Johnny Berry when she was a youngster and she seems to be better over a fence. It was a good effort in the ground for the pace they went - it was proper winter ground and she showed a great attitude. I thought he’d run a big race in Naas and he gurgled all the way up the straight. I probably had the wrong bit in his mouth as he’d never done it before. I was really happy with him and he was working really well at home. The day he was fourth in the maiden hurdle in Gowran was a good run and I thought he’d go on the ground here. I'm just so appreciative for these types of races for small trainers. I knew there was a bit of negative press about them but for the likes of me it really gives us a chance not to be competing with the Man Utds and Man Citys of this world when it comes to racing,. She won a point-to-point and my son got to ride her in a few bumpers but she wants good ground and it went soft in Sligo and Listowel. This was a race that really suited and it was local. The Dooly's are fabulous people and they gave me the opportunity to buy three horses and I'm really pleased to have them. They are great friends and are lovely people, so I can't say enough thanks to Noel and Jenny Dooly, they are very good to me. He is a winter horse and we have winter ground today. I believe it's summer heavy today and so did Paul Townend and a lot of the senior jockeys, yet the board inside still says soft, yielding in places. The same clerk of the course (Paul Moloney) gave good to yielding in Kilbeggan last night, whereas all the senior jockeys said good, no yielding. There is a huge discrepancies. How are they seeing it as slower than the riders last night and quicker than the riders today. The discrepancy is too big and it doesn't make sense. I'm delighted because my horse is a winter horse and he got heavy ground today. Liz Doyle told me this morning it would be proper soft and she was right.
