FormscanBy Tom Weekes - Four-year-old DROP THE DIP is already a dual course-and-distance winner and her rating has recently fallen to a manageable level. Ground-versatile, she has failed to place this year but ran satisfactorily twice at the Galway summer festival and while well held at that venue recently, is 2lb lower today, has a nice draw and should compete. Three-year-old Dancing Steve seemed to benefit from dropping in distance recently and while 4lb higher than when winning at Tipperary, his same jockey was unable to utilise his 3lb claim then, while the third-placed horse has subsequently won. Nibras Rainbow defeated Shoot To Kill to score at Killarney and while he is 4lb higher and was beaten subsequently at Roscommon, today's rider claims 7lb.

That is unexpected as I thought she'd need the run. I think Sean taking the 10lb off was the winning of it and it was a serious ride for a 10lb claimer. They went hard, he came with one run and it was a brilliant ride. Sean rode her once at Dundalk in the past and, while you're under pressure all the time to put up the top lads, Sean has been riding work for me on two-year-olds all year and is a big help. She was dropping back in trip and I knew she'd hit the line well but it's a slight bit of a shock she has won. She was a cheap purchase, has now won four times and is a little star. I'm pretty confident she will win over hurdles too. I'm based in Shercock, Co Cavan, it took four hours yesterday to come down and we stayed over last night. I was unlucky the last day when I was beaten a nose on her over six. I think the step up to seven helped her today. I thought we went a nice gallop early and I was just able to slot into a lovely position and I was very happy through the race. She did it nicely, dropping back to seven didn't do her any harm anyway,. I'm delighted with her, after getting pipped last week (headed close home when third here) it's great to get back and get a win. She was able to open them up off the bend a bit. It's a long way up that straight and there is always something coming from behind. She was game, she showed plenty of boot over the seven. Probably the ease in the ground over seven helped. James rides very well, he's very strong and is good at pacing them. I'm not sure where we'll go. She handles the ground. We didn't know going down to Listowel whether she would or not but handled it grand there so we figured we were alright ground-wise today. She's as solid as a rock. She's been in the first five all season long and you can set your watch by her.
