FormscanBy Tom Weekes - CROWSATEDAPPLETART has returned to his best in recent runs and has obvious claims. He has won twice from 24 runs and was out of form for 12 months until last May but his rating had fallen during that time and while well held by the winner at Tipperary, drops in grade and is suited by conditions. Finians Row has won just once from 30 runs but himself ran well in a similar race at Wexford recently. Cullenwaine was well held in two previous chase runs but those were on unsuitably testing conditions and has been running well over hurdles recently. Third reserve and chase debutante Gaelic Des Chastys would be a notable runner, having won on debut for current connections last month.

He was a weak horse when we bought him and he had been disappointing. In hindsight, we mightn't have given him enough time, but he has won his race now. . He ran respectably in Perth (fourth) last week and, in fairness, to run on heavy ground, come off the boat and win here takes a bit of doing. He is a light-framed horse so we'll see where we go now. I've had a really tough week - I lost one of my best horses in training who got cast and broke a bone in his knee. I was put on RTE Investigates on Thursday and I've no idea why. A picture was taken off my promotional video on my website and put on RTE and I've no idea why. I'm hugely hurt over it. They (RTE) sent me a letter, but they sent a lot of trainers a letter and they listed out eight horses of mine that ended up there (Shannonside Foods) over the years. They were in my premises at one time. One was a mare that was with me 12 years ago and I haven't seen her in 12 years. Four others that have had foals for breeders since - nothing got to do with me. Two of them I had sent to agents that could have been riding horses (for racehorses to riding). I always send mine to agents to get a chance to be riding horses. I have never been there (Shannonside Foods) in my life. I didn't comment on it and I don't know why they (RTE) took a picture of me off my own promotional video and put it up without my permission. I'm hugely hurt over it. I think everybody in racing knows that there is nobody that cares as much as I do and I found it very difficult. Coming up today, I got a phonecall from home that another one of my horses died of a heart attack. Punchestown races is always a big deal for us. Richard (Farrell, owner) was at school with me, many years ago, and we've been friends ever since. I've had seven horses for himself and his late father over the years but we never had any luck and unfortunately Dick passed away about 18 months ago. It's nice to win in the end.
