FormscanBy Tom Weekes - BANJAXED makes his handicap chase debut and looks favourably enough treated. Despite having won just once in a Perth maiden hurdle in May 2023, he was a capable type in bumpers and over hurdles and drops in grade today, having contested two useful chases recently. He conceded 3lb to the 137-rated runner-up of his recent Ballinrobe race and the selection is now rated 2lb below his hurdle rating. Dual winner Ebasari is rated 4lb lower over hurdles but himself ran well in a useful Wexford beginners chase recently and debuts in a handicap chase. Presenting Lad has gradually progressed in chases and wasn't beaten far at Tipperary recently and reverts back up in distance.

I'm delighted. He seems to favour tracks that he likes. He's won four times at Galway, twice here and twice in Thurles. It's nice for a small yard and small owners. I drive the wheelbarrow, tractor and horsebox!. He's the horse of a lifetime for me, a horse that keeps pulling it out. He's gutsy. Hopefully he can rack up another one or two. He might get into the Blazers (at Galway), he's entered in the Galway Plate just because he won the trial and gets a complimentary entry. There is a hurdle race there as well and I wouldn't rule that out. He'll run once I'd say, whatever we get into we'll go for that. He'll have a few entries and will run in whatever he can be most competitive in. He came from behind the last day, he was in the middle of them today and he can make it as well. He's won on firm, soft and nearly everything. He's just a real durable horse. Jack is usually not far wrong. We were a bit worried about fitness. Jack went for this lad, he probably had the better form in the book. If you go back and have a look at it (Boodles), it wasn't that disappointing, he never got into the race. It was a very, very messy race. It was obviously disappointing on the day, but the race didn't work out. He's a nice horse and we'll have a bit of fun with him. We'll mix and match on the Flat and over jumps with him. He looks like he is well handicapped on the Flat. He travelled today like he did in Cork the first day with Davy Russell, so he's a nice horse. Galway was originally where I was going to go, but this race came along and we had to take our chance. Whether Galway comes a bit soon, I don't know. I'll have a talk with the lads and see what they think. The owners are good Summerhill people, you can't beat them! They were all watching Summerhill last night playing football. I thought he'd win the last day (third at Wexford) but they walked around and he got very free. Philip Enright said then to put a line through it, he'd win the next day, and he was right. He probably should have won for the lads I bought him off, I'd be friendly with them. He had a race won here last year and went upside down at the last. He is living outside. He was a very worried and stressy horse when he was younger and he is happier, I suppose you can do that (live outside) at this time of year. It has totally changed his mind. Every run has got better with confidence, that was his best run today. He did everything really easy. He is rated 94 over fences so we will have to look at that. There's a Sligo meeting in two weeks time. We were scratching our head with him at one stage but we tweaked a few things and living outside he just seems happier.
