The son of Australia hasn’t jumped fluently when placed on both hurdle starts over this trip including here last month with Native Speaker close behind in third, and hopefully he’ll have benefitted from that experience. Downpatrick bumper winner Uncle Pat likes to be up with the pace and has shown promise in two maiden hurdle starts, while Irina’s Path has filled the runner-up spot twice since transferring to Gordon Elliott this year and now steps up in trip.

It's a fantastic win. A great run and a great ride from Hugh,. He's not been the most consistent horse in the world but when he runs his race he generally runs a good race. Hugh got a great tune out of him today. He stays very well and stamina has always been his thing. That's what he did today, he outstayed them. I'm delighted for Ray, he bred the horse. He's run some very good races and he's had a few disappointing runs in the middle of it. It's a big day today for everyone. Hugh's instructions were to go forward, get a nice position, and make sure that stamina counted and to go out on his sword. He committed at the bottom of the straight and he kept galloping. The second horse ran a great race, carrying a lot of weight, two weeks after the Leger. I think he was quite green in front. I think he was always doing enough. Those Well Chosens are always very laid-back and I think they keep their best for the racecourse. They do their best under pressure. Myself and the second horse, I don't remember pulling up that far down the track afterwards. It is good ground and he is a horse that will stay further.
