The Willie Mullins-trained gelding was shuffled back after a mistake at the first, and struggled to keep in touch with the leading group from five out. However his rider's never say die attitude paid dividends as leader Lukie Victor jumped the last slowly to the left, handing the initiative to the winner.
The real eye-catcher was Rien A Perdre who gave away countless ground by continually jumping to the left but still amazingly kept on to take third. On this evidence, he is one to note when going left-handed.
Publican travelled well as usual but could find little under pressure in the straight, while Outlaw Princess was close to the pace throughout but found wanting from three out.
The race lost much of it's interest when well-backed favourite Lenrey fell at the second.
