Torrid Kentavr has now won 12 races and, despite not being 100% straightforward, is clearly a talented horse. He was given a good ride by his inexperienced rider and a handicap chase at Punchestown, in which he finished second last year, is now on the winner's agenda.

By The Brook won on his only point to point start in 2006 but has proven disappointing since. However, the gelding has hinted at ability in similar races and this was a sound effort. He should pick up a similar race soon.

Rebel Run, running in first time blinkers, went to the front before two out before being headed before the last. He has proven disappointing since winning on his handicap hurdle debut at Fairyhouse in November but this was an encouraging run and he will prove competitive on his next run.

Matchbook deserves a win and should gain one at some stage on this evidence while Start From Scratch, who burst a blood vessel on his last run, returned to something near his best but may still need to improve further to win again.

Swiftmarc was never involved and was a big disappointment. He was found to be lame post-race.
