1st - €19,530.00, 2nd - €6,000.00, 3rd - €3,000.00, 4th - €1,200.00 23 Ran Solwhit showed the benefit of a quiet Irish debut at Fairyhouse earlier this month by landing a nice touch (10/1 in the morning) and looks a four-year-old with a bright future.
The French import was always travelling sweetly on the heels of the leaders and quickly covered the move of Silverhand who kicked for home after two out. The pair had the race between them in the straight but Davy Russell only needed to change his hands a few times as the Charles Byrnes-trained gelding found plenty. He led before the last and quickened away to win in fine style. Byrnes may switch him to the Flat as he 'has a bit of speed'.
Silverhand is a fair marker in the juvenile hurdle division by virtue of his second to Beau Michael in a Fairyhouse Grade 2 but he had no answer to Solwhit's powerful challenge in the straight.
Siege Of Ennis has taken well to hurdling and would have finished a bit closer but for being slightly hampered by the fall of The Frog Prince two out. Prince Erik and Temlett on the other hand would have been expected to fly a bit higher over hurdles judged by their Flat ratings but both found little under pressure from two out having been up with the pace.
German import Negus, rated 88 on the Flat, made a promising hurdle debut for new connections staying on nicely in the closing stages from off the pace.
