This race will long be remembered as Conor O'Dwyer's swansong as it was the jockeys final ride and the Wexford native deserved all the plaudits he got but in the short term the performance of O'Dwyer's mount Mister Top Notch is not to be overlooked.

A classy chaser in the own right, he has now landed two conditions hurdles this term. The first of those was as a prep before the Pierse Leopardstown Handicap Chase and the second was here. This race was being used as a prep for the Betfair Bowl Chase at Aintree in just less than a fortnight and a similar performance should see him go very close.

Trainer Davy Fitzgerald revealed that his charge had a set back and needed to get a run before his Liverpool engagement. It couldn't have worked out better has he won as he liked.

Boulavogue was fell fancied to go one better than his last two runs but he had to settle for the silver medal yet again and he was simply no match for the winner who just never came off the bridle.

Favourite Robin Du Bois was accused of not staying last week over three miles at Cheltenham but he was eased down before two out and it may be the last we see of him this season.

Publican cruised into the straight but didn't finish strongly from the third last while Charlie Yardbird, although he finished third just plugged away to do so.
