David Probert, the rider of Dancing Ballerina (IRE), dawn 10, and Edward Greatrex, the rider of Secret Ace (GB), drawn 11, had appeared not to keep straight from the stalls.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, both riders were suspended for 1 day.
An enquiry was held to consider whether Thore Hammer Hansen, the rider of Check In Check Out (IRE), which was pulled up just before the winning line, had failed to pull up his mount in a timely manner, thus continuing when it was contrary to the horse’s welfare to do so.
The rider and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice Hammer Hansen was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
The Veterinary Officer stated that a post-race examination of Check In Check Out (IRE) revealed it to be significantly lame on its right-hind leg.
The rider was suspended for 8 days.
Following the race, Eoin Walsh reported that Reignite (GB), unplaced, was outpaced throughout, and David Probert reported that Dancing Ballerina (IRE), placed fourth, hung left-handed under pressure.
