An enquiry was held into the malfunction of the stalls for the second race, and the subsequent false start.
The Starter and the Stalls Team Leader were interviewed.
The Starter reported that on the pre-race check the stalls had operated correctly, but when he pressed the button to start the race the stalls did not open until several seconds later, whereupon the electrical connection was restored, causing the gates to open unexpectedly which resulted in the Starter calling a false start.
On resetting the cabling and pressing the button a second time the stalls did open correctly.
His explanation that there had been a break in the circuit which he believed was caused by horses rocking the starting stalls was noted.
