An enquiry was held to consider interference entering the first bend involving the winner, Superior Force (GB), ridden by Rossa Ryan; Rollajam (IRE), placed second, ridden by P J McDonald; Bazalgette (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Tom Marquand; MY NAME’S HOWARD, unplaced, ridden by Trevor Whelan, and Four Notes (GB), placed eighth, ridden by Graham Lee.
Whelan was suspended for 8 days for careless riding after angling his mount left-handed towards the inside rail when not sufficiently clear of Superior Force (GB), crowding that runner onto Four Notes (GB) which had to be severely checked and in turn caused Bazalgette (IRE) to also be severely checked, which in turn hampered Rollajam (IRE).
Clifford Lee, the rider of MAGGIE’S JOY, placed fifth, was also interviewed but found to not be involved in the interference.
Approaching one and a half furlongs out Rollajam (IRE), placed second, shifted quickly right-handed whilst racing greenly, causing the winner, Superior Force (GB), to be inconvenienced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, P J McDonald reported that Rollajam (IRE), placed second, hung right-handed, Jack Garrity reported that Marquis Of York (GB), placed fourth, hung right-handed, and Graham Lee reported that Four Notes (GB), placed eighth, was denied a clear run inside the final furlong.
