Permission was given for Murau (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Approaching ½ furlong out, the winner, Murau (GB), ducked right-handed away from the whip carrying Il Re Di Nessuno (FR), off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Murau (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference crossing the line involving the winner, Murau (GB), ridden by William Buick, Diamond Bay (GB), placed third, ridden by Richard Kingscote, and Vino Victrix (GB), placed second, ridden by James Doyle.
The interference was found to be accidental as Murau (GB) quickly shifted left-handed as Diamond Bay (GB) and Vino Victrix (GB) independently drifted right-handed causing Kingscote to become short of room and take a check shortly after the line.
Following the race, William Buick reported that the winner, Murau (GB), hung both ways in the closing stages and George Downing reported that Vin Rouge (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed throughout.
