The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the latter stages of this race involving Lady Of The Vale, ridden by C.M. Quirke, placed first, and New Year Honours (GB), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, placed third, where it appeared New Year Honours had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.W. Kennedy stated that he had enough horse to fill the gap on approach to the last when he met with interference. C.M. Quirke stated that he was holding his line when he felt contact from behind. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Lady Of The Vale had caused interference to New Year Honours, he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that C.M Quirke, was in breach of Rule 214(careless riding) and having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards cautioned him on this occasion.
