Permission was given for Bendy Bow (GB) to wear a red hood in the Parade Ring.
Legende de Minuit (GB) unseated Sean Bowen when proceeding freely down the horse walk before making contact with some fencing, but the rider always maintained a hold of the gelding.
Having been examined by the doctor and Veterinary Surgeon at the start, both Bowen and Legende de Minuit (GB) were deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Bendy Bow (GB), ridden by Bryony Frost and trained by Mark Bradstock, which after disputing the running throughout the early stages of the race, appeared to be tenderly handled from after the third-last hurdle to finish seventh, beaten by 48½ lengths.
The rider and the representative of the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that two post-race examinations of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated her instructions had been to be positive and not be afraid to make the running with Bendy Bow (GB).
She added that having gained a prominent position, the gelding had become a bit keen with the other runners around her and after jumping the third-last hurdle Bendy Bow (GB) had become tired and thereafter stopped quickly, a fact she had reported at Scales.
The representative of the trainer confirmed the instructions and stated that she was satisfied the ride accorded with those instructions, adding that in their opinion Bendy Bow (GB) appeared not to stay the 2 mile 5½ furlongs trip on this occasion having run too freely and therefore may be dropped in trip.
Their explanations were noted.
An enquiry was held at Lingfield Park on Thursday 22 October 2020, adjourned from Fontwell Park on Wednesday 21 October 2020, to consider interference passing the winning post on the second circuit when Maxi Jazz (FR), later pulled up, ridden by Richie McLernon, interfered with Bendy Bow (GB), placed seventh, ridden by Bryony Frost.
McLernon was cautioned for careless riding as he had put pressure on Bendy Bow (GB), intimidating the gelding for numerous strides.
McLernon was also reminded of his responsibility towards the safety of other riders.
Following the race, Sean Bowen reported that Legende de Minuit (GB), which was pulled up, stopped quickly.
