Permission was given for Alligator Alley (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving Rock Of England (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by David Nolan, PADDY’S DAY (IRE), placed second, ridden by Alex Jary, Ganesha (GB), unplaced, ridden by Rowan Scott, and Rodborough (GB), unplaced, ridden by Dale Swift.
Nolan was suspended for 5 days for careless riding as he had moved his mount right-handed when insufficiently clear of PADDY’S DAY (IRE) tightening up that gelding, ultimately forcing Jary to take a check and make contact with Ganesha (GB), which resulted in both Ganesha (GB) and Rodborough (GB) being badly buffeted around for a number of strides when short for racing room.
A short distance later, the free-running PADDY’S DAY (IRE), placed second, shifted slightly right-handed crowding Ganesha (GB), unplaced, onto Rodborough (GB), unplaced, which had to be checked by its rider after being forced onto the heels of Willolarupi (IRE), placed fourth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of PADDY’S DAY (IRE).
Approaching the final furlong, Rock Of England (IRE), placed fifth, edged slightly right-handed tightening Good Point (GB), unplaced, for room on the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Rock Of England (IRE).
Approximately ½ a furlong out, Rock Of England (IRE), placed fifth, shifted left-handed at the same time as PADDY’S DAY (IRE), placed second, moved slightly right-handed resulting in the pair bumping lightly, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of PADDY’S DAY (IRE).
Following the race, Alex Jary reported that PADDY’S DAY (IRE), placed second, ran too free in the early stages of the race and Andrew Breslin reported that Good Point (GB), unplaced, suffered interference approaching the final furlong.
