The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Count Of Carabass, ridden by M.C. Hussey, unplaced, New Identity, ridden by C.P. Hoban, placed sixth and Punches Pious, ridden by N.M. Crosse, placed fourth, where it appeared that Count of Carabass and Punches Pious ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found C.P. Hoban to be in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his previous record in this regard suspended C.P. Hoban for 3 racedays. G.P. Brouder, rider of Tee Ranger trained by J.C.Hurley, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly left.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards rated 45-65 Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra; for each race won. Riders - Confined to riders who have not ridden more than 10 winners under any National Hunt Rules or Rules of Racing from 26th March, 2017 to 8th October, 2017 inclusive.
