The last day in Ballinrobe he was a bit keen and had run his race at halfway. I knew if he settled he'd get the trip as he had won a couple of point-to-points. Paddy said he felt turning in that he had plenty of horse. He saved and saved a bit and when he went for him he obviously stayed at it. He jumped well and it was great. The Stewards interviewed E. Walsh, rider of Jerandme, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that E
Walsh was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency. Having considered E. Walsh's record in this regard the Stewards cautioned him on this occasion.
An extended handicap steeplechase for five years old and upwards (140 = 11st 10lbs) Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 11st 10lbs and the minimum weight shall not be less than 9st 12lbs Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each steeplechase won.
