A good front-running performance by Tryptronic. The winner attracted some support (11/1 to 9/1) in a moderate contest.
He had run a couple of fair races at Sligo last summer and was not disgraced when seventh on his last start in a decent maiden at Cork.
He had his rivals struggling turning for home and stuck to his task well despite tying up slightly close home.
Rocheford Bridge had chased him throughout but lost out for second after a battle down the straight with Lugato.
The pair were closing on the winner on the run-in but never looked like pegging him back.
Joint favourite Lugato (5/2) tracked the leaders before making headway into third before the straight. He managed to win the race for second but never looked a danger to the winner despite staying on late.
The other joint favourite Got The Urge tracked the leaders but had no more to offer before the turn.
There was a big gap back to the fourth-placed horse, Inner Voice, who finished well from the last.
He just pipped Danakhali, who had stayed on at the one pace down the straight. Dream Of Tomorrow was a non-runner with colic while Baldini was in season.
An extended handicap hurdle for four, five and six yrs old only rated 77-90 Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won.
