NATIVE VIC, with solid form to her name lately, got in as a reserve and made the most of her opportunity under Joe Holly. Up two furlongs in trip from her last three efforts which have all been over two and a half miles, this mare, who began her career in point-to-points (she was well-touted when runner-up to a good sort on her debut) came home really well after a fluent jump at the last to catch ACCORRY MORE for a neck victory.
Eric McNamara said of his charge, ?she wanted every yard of that as she is an out and out stayer. Joe gave her a great ride and she'll go for something similar."
ACCORRY MORE was unfortunate to run into such a tough performer. This fellow obviously goes well on testing ground as he won a point-to-point on similar terrain at Aghabullogue in January. It was a tip in itself that he came here rather than take up an engagement at Belclare in a winners race tomorrow. Supported from at least 12/1 this morning into 15/2, the Flying Legend gelding travelled like a dream to lead from two but he got under the last and couldn't fend off the winner. Compensation surely awaits for the eight-year-old who has some useful Park form to his name.
KILLEANEY, the subject of interest in the offices early on, was prominent until losing his pitch from three out, lying in sixth place as they approached the straight. Left fourth two out, the veteran kept on without threatening for third place and he has to be of interest in this sort of company next time.
BLANCHFIELD did a lot better than she has been faring lately whilst MCALPINE had made the running but he was strongly pressed when falling two out. BOHER STORM (stone bruise) and MA CHARA (no excuse) were non-runners.
