The apparent improvement in form of the winner, William Philo (GB), compared with its previous run at Chepstow on 19 November 2021 where the gelding finished ninth of 10, beaten by 29 ½ lengths was considered.
Robert Walford's explanation that the gelding was suited by the Soft ground was noted.
Following the race, Gary Moore reported that ALBERT VON ORNUM (FR), which was pulled up, had made a respiratory noise.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
