Morty (GB), trained by David O'Meara, won at Ripon the previous day.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Officer, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Permission was given for both Lucky Beggar (IRE) and Mutawaffer (IRE) to go early to post.
The winner, King Crimson (GB), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Great Yarmouth on 1 July 2021, where the gelding finished tenth of twelve, beaten 11½ lengths.
John Butler explained that King Crimson (GB) appreciated being able to make the running on this occasion.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Harrison Shaw reported that Mightaswellsmile (GB), unplaced, missed the break; Paul Mulrennan reported that Mutawaffer (IRE), unplaced, reared as the stalls opened and jumped left, losing many lengths as a result and the Veterinary Officer reported that Fossos (IRE), placed fourth, lost its right fore shoe.
