An enquiry was held regarding the running and riding of several riders from Race 1 due to their mounts being held up behind the free-running leader.
The Stewards interviewed Edward Austin, the rider of Farnon (IRE), unplaced, Ryan Mania, the rider of Heer He Goes (GB), unplaced, Nathan Moscrop, the rider of Mister Moodles (GB), placed third, Sean Quinlan, the rider of Nortonthorpebanker (GB), unplaced, Craig Nichol, the rider of Houxty Reiver (GB), unplaced, Dillan Hurst, the rider of Nulli Secundus (IRE), unplaced, Danny McMenamin, the rider of Wheres The Crumpet (GB), unplaced, who reported at scales that his mount ran green, J J Slevin, the rider of Paddy Elvis (IRE), placed second, Aaron Anderson, the rider of Rouse (IRE), unplaced, and Brian Hughes, the rider of Slugger (GB), placed fourth.
Being a 7lb claimer, Hurst was offered the opportunity to be accompanied but declined.
Having reviewed recordings of the race, the jockeys explained that they had all asked their mounts for effort from halfway in the back straight and that they were unable to gain ground on the free-running leader, they continued to ask their mounts for an effort and in their opinions, had obtained the best possible placings.
The Stewards noted their explanations.
Following the race, Billy Garritty reported that Highfield Prince (GB), unplaced, weakened quickly in the back straight and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
