Rossa Ryan, the rider of Mudawwan (IRE), drawn 8, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his mount being slowly away.
Ryan’s explanation that the gelding cocked its jaw and turned its head into the adjoining stall momentarily before the start was effected, which meant he had been unable to remove it in a timely manner and required a second attempt was noted.
An enquiry was held to consider interference rounding the home bend when the winner Owhatanight (GB), ridden by Daniel Muscutt, interfered with The Red Witch (GB), placed eighth, ridden by Josephine Gordon.
Muscutt was cautioned for careless riding as when taking a narrow run through up the inside rail, he had allowed his mount to shift right-handed making contact with and turning the hindquarters of a weakening The Red Witch (GB) causing the filly to become unbalanced.
Adam Kirby, the rider of Word Of Honour (GB), placed second, was suspended for 2 days for using his whip with excessive force on the run to the line.
Following the race, Hollie Doyle reported that Fenix (GB), placed seventh, ran too free and hung right-handed throughout and Isobel Francis reported that Dreamboat Annie (GB), placed fifth, hung left-handed throughout.
