An enquiry was held to consider why Tim Vaughan was running Madera Mist (IRE) here at Ffos Las on going described as Heavy, having declared the mare a non-runner at Fakenham on 28 January 2021 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that with bad weather forecast for the near future, they saw this as the best opportunity for Madera Mist (IRE) in the present circumstance and were therefore happy for the mare to take its chance.
The winner, Kiera Royale (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Bangor on 11 December 2020 where the gelding finished fourth of ten runners, beaten by 23 lengths.
David Rees explained that Kiera Royale (IRE) had appreciated the step up in trip from 2 miles 1 furlong and 77 yards to 2 miles 3 furlongs and 83 yards on this occasion and had also jumped with more fluency.
His comments were noted and the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Alan Johns reported that Madera Mist (IRE), which started favourite and finished third, was hampered by Amlovi (IRE) unseating its rider at the third last fence.
