See also » Motashakel-gets-up-late-to-open-account He has a good attitude, he's a very very kind horse and he wants to be stepped up another furlong with a little ease in the ground,. He could be competitive at a higher division hopefully. Races like the Beresford at the back end could be possible. He's a heavy horse and I'd say a bit of juice in the ground wouldn't do him any harm. Kevin Prendergast, trainer
C. O'Donoghue, rider of Channel Stuffer (USA) trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran green in the last two furlongs
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Channel Stuffer (USA), ridden by C
O'Donoghue, placed third, Motashakel, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed first and Syrena, ridden by D. O'Brien, placed second. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Clifftop (GB), trained by H.Rogers, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Clifftop (GB), ridden by R.P. Whelan, and trained by H.Rogers. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. R.P. Whelan, stated that his instructions were to settle his mount in the early stages as he can run free, to get him balanced and to do the best he could. He said his mount ran free early on before settling, met with slight interference turning for home and failed to quicken thereafter. He further added that his mount may not have appreciated today's ground. H.Rogers confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He said his charge can be a difficult individual and described him as very leggy. He was also of the opinion that his charge did not let himself down on the ground
The Stewards also received a report from he Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Clifftop (GB) was found to be post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
