The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident turning into the home straight involving Daintree, ridden by J.A
Powell, placed fourth, and Peerless, ridden by J.M. Sheridan, unplaced, where it appeared that Peerless ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.M. Sheridan, stated that his mount met with interference from his outside. J.A. Powell, stated that his mount was travelling very strong which carried him close to heels causing him to move towards the railing. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J.A. Powell was in breach of Rule 214(careless riding) and having considered his record they suspended him for 2 racedays
J.M. Sheridan, rider of Peerless, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was badly hampered turning in.
